Pre Workshop Checklist
□ Read through the Financial workbook from the SALT series and answer the questions.
□ Review the lesson notes in the SALT Instructor’s Guide in preparation to teach each of the four lessons from the Financial Area of Life. Review notes on Leading a SALT Group beginning on page iv of the SALT Instructor’s Guide.
□ Make sure you have the Financial workbook from the SALT series available for each person attending the workshop.
□ Tell those attending the workshop to come with any personal financial information in hand – budgets, debt, etc.
□ Gather the following supplies: name tags, paper and pens for taking notes.
□ Have a whiteboard, overhead projector or PowerPoint projector for displaying the diagrams.

9:00–9:20 Registration and Fellowship (20 minutes)
9:20–9:30 Welcome (10 minutes)
9:30–10:00 Teaching Financial Lesson One (30 minutes)
10:00–10:25 Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
10:25–10:35 Break (10 minutes)
10:35–11:05 Teach Financial Lesson Two (30 minutes)
11:05–11:30 Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
11:30–12:00 Group Discussion (30 minutes)
12:00–1:00 Lunch (1 hour)
1:00–1:30 Teach Financial Lesson Three (30 minutes)
1:30–1:55 Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
1:55–2:05 Break (10 minutes)
2:05–2:35 Teach Financial Lesson Four (30 minutes)
2:35–3:00 Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
3:00–4:00 Group Discussion / Budget and Debt Retirement Activity

Workshop Elements

Registration and Fellowship (20 minutes)
□ Hand out or have people purchase the Financial workbook from the SALT series.
□ Give everyone a name tag as well as paper and pen for taking notes.
□ Have drinks and snacks available, if desired.

Welcome (10 minutes)
□ Welcome all those attending the workshop.
□ Explain workshop schedule (teaching, study time, group time, breaks, lunch, activities).
□ Prayer

Financial Chapter One – Financial Freedom (30 minutes)
□ Draw diagram and teach from the Lesson Notes beginning on page 115 of the SALT Instructor’s Guide.

Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
□ Have participants answer the questions in Chapter One of their Financial workbooks.

Break (10 minutes)

Financial Chapter Two – Give Generously (30 minutes)
□ Draw diagram and teach from the Lesson Notes beginning on page 123 of the SALT Instructor’s Guide.

Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
□ Have participants answer the questions in Chapter Two of their Financial workbooks.
□ Near the end of study time ask everyone to take time to pray about their giving.

Group Discussion (30 minutes)
□ Lead a group discussion of Financial lessons one and two. Follow the Group Guides on pages 114 and 122 of the SALT Instructor’s Guide.

Lunch (1 hour)

Financial Chapter Three – Spend Wisely (30 minutes)
□ Draw diagram and teach from the Lesson Notes beginning on page 129 of the SALT Instructor’s Guide.

Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
□ Have participants answer the questions in Chapter Three of their Financial workbooks.
□ Near the end of study time ask everyone to take time to pray about their spending.

Break (10 minutes)

Financial Chapter Four – Invest Carefully (30 minutes)
□ Draw diagram and teach from the Lesson Notes beginning on page 137 of the SALT Instructor’s Guide.

Personal Study Time (25 minutes)
□ Have participants answer the questions in Chapter Four of their Financial workbooks.

Group Discussion / Budget and Debt Retirement Activity
□ Lead a group discussion of Financial lessons three and four. Follow the Group Guides on pages 128 and 136 of the SALT Instructor’s Guide. (30 minutes)
□ Tell each person to pull out their current budgets and debt information and begin filling out the worksheets at the end of their Financial workbooks. Encourage them to take the time right now to create a budget and make a plan for getting out of debt. Walk around and answer questions. (30 minutes)
□ End the workshop by giving each person time to pray. Encourage them to confess to God if they have believed their money belonged to them. Also, encourage them to give God complete control of their finances.
